Two types of PDF forms — and how to handle each

Type 1: Interactive PDF forms — these have actual form fields (text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns) built into the PDF. When you click on them, a cursor appears and you can type. These are the easiest to fill in — any PDF viewer handles them.

Type 2: Flat/image PDFs — these look like forms but are actually just images or static PDFs with no form fields. Clicking them does nothing. You need a tool that can add text on top of the PDF.

Fill interactive PDF forms online
